WHO WE ARE                 HOW TO ORDER

GO-GO'S
1980's

Disco reigned in the 1970’s.

By the end of the decade, those who didn’t love disco --  (not us; we STILL love disco!  There’s no better music to house-clean by) -- wanted a return to rock ’n roll, but a new and improved rock ’n roll.

Hence, we got New Wave rock ’n roll.  And among that cohort, the stellar “All-Girl” rock ’n roll band was The Go-Go’s.

Los Angeles-based, the five women were kick-ass, first-rate musicians, playing in different bands before they all got together as a group.

They subtracted two members and added two members and then began recording as The Go-Go's.

Charlotte Caffey (1953), Gina Schock (1957),
Belinda Carlisle (1958),

Jane Wiedlin (1958), Kathy Valentine (1959)

As was often the case back in 1980, new bands would break a record in England first.  If it did well, a US record company would then pick up the band for the American market.

That's what happened with the irresistible “We Got the Beat”
:

This was followed up by the equally popular “Our Lips Are Sealed”:

Our Lips Are Sealed

The Go-Go's toured non-stop for two years and kept turning out anthems for fun-loving free-spirited women:

and:

Head Over Heels

Differences of opinion led to Jane’s departure from the band, and significant medical problems temporarily sidelined Gina and Karen.

Reluctantly, Charlotte and Belinda decided to dissolve the Go-Go’s in 1985.

But the story doesn’t end there.  The Go-Go's have periodically re-formed for both recordings and live appearances.

They all genuinely love the music they’ve made.

They were inducted into the Rock ’n Roll Hall of Fame just a year ago.  Now all in their 60's, the Go-Go's still make rousing rock 'n roll.  Here’s the induction ceremony, and their performance:
