GO-GO'S
1980's
Disco
reigned in the 1970’s.
By
the end of the decade, those who didn’t love
disco -- (not us; we STILL love
disco! There’s no better music to
house-clean by) -- wanted a return to rock
’n roll, but a new and improved rock ’n
roll.
Hence, we got New Wave rock ’n roll.
And among that cohort, the stellar
“All-Girl” rock ’n roll band was The
Go-Go’s.
Los
Angeles-based, the five women were kick-ass,
first-rate musicians, playing in different
bands before they all got together as a
group.
They subtracted two members and added two
members and then began recording as The
Go-Go's.
Charlotte
Caffey (1953), Gina Schock (1957),
Belinda Carlisle (1958),
Jane
Wiedlin (1958), Kathy Valentine (1959)
Hold that thought.
