WHO WE ARE                 HOW TO ORDER

THE DeCASTRO SISTERS
1950's

The three DeCastro Sisters - Peggy, Cherie and Babette - were the daughters of a Ziegfeld Follies showgirl and a super-rich Cuban sugar plantation owner.

Two of the sisters were born in Havana in the family mansion (which is now the Chinese Embassy) and one in NYC, where the parents kept an apartment at the fabled Dakota.

They were proteges of the Brazilian Bombshell, Carmen Miranda, and styled themselves after The Andrews Sisters.

We’ll let you listen to their 1950’s mega-hit right after we show you the website items we are featuring today:s

Peggy DeCastro (1921-2004)
Cherie DeCastro (1922-2010)
Babette DeCastro (1925-1992)

The DeCastro Sisters' biggest hit -- which has become a standard -- is “Teach Me Tonight.”  It reached #2 on the Hit Parade in 1954 and has sold over 5,000,000 records:

The DeCastro Sisters were very popular entertainers in hotel showrooms and nightclubs throughout the 1950’s and frequently shared the bill with very big stars, including Bobby Darin (whom they persuaded to record "Mack the Knife").

In addition to being very good singers, singing in tight three-part harmony, they had a flamboyant, goofy side --

-- which you can see in this clip:

La Cumbanchero/Cry

Okay, one more DeCastro Sisters clip for you enjoy:
