LIFE BALL BARBIE

This was the third and last Barbie exclusively sold by the Life Ball group in Austria
benefitting AIDS charities in cooperation with Mattel.

The edition size was limited to a minuscule 300
and each outfit was handmade in the workrooms of Italian designer Valentino
and fitted to a Mackie-faced Barbie.

Each doll comes with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity
and its cardboard box fits inside a custom-printed wooden box.

Here's a little bit of the back story on this doll:

Gery Keszler, the head of Life Ball, asked Joe for a suggestion for the third doll in this series.

Joe, who knew that Valentino had never licensed a Valentino Barbie,
suggested that Life Ball approach Valentino and ask, specifically, to miniaturize
the vintage Valentino gown that Julia Roberts wore the night she won her Oscar for Best Actress.

It's pretty wonderful when someone takes your idea and makes it happen.
